County Virginia Name: Odin Birth date: 12/24/2016
Weight: 89lbs Height: 29 inches Chipped Bio: This
young boy is good looking, super smart, highly
trainable with tons of puppy energy! He is not
really food motivated, he’ll only work for a treat
for a few times and then won’t respond to it at
all. Play rewards have worked best for him. He’ll
follow you everywhere right at your left knee.
He’s had lots of experience in the world—I take
him everywhere. Odin has been to beaches and
played in the ocean, to parks and played
and trained in fields, on walking paths, hiking,
on road trips—he loves the car. He gets vocal—in a
cute way—when we drive nearby parks and fields
that we’ve played in. He is a dominant pup and
will play very well with dogs that like to compete
for position. I’ve socialized him with small
dogs (when the owners will let me), German
Shepherds, Huskies, and Pit Bull Terriers, but he
loves playing and running with other Doberman
Pincers! He has crush on a little pug—she wants
nothing to do with him—and enjoys the company of a
French Bulldog—He lets me know whenever we pass
his house. When he approaches another dog he may
bark and look tough, but he really just wants to
get down to sniffing and saying hello. He has a
bit too much energy for children. Also, he doesn’t
like having the top of his head touched or enjoy
hugs. He does love belly rubs, chest pats, and
gentle scratching under the chin. I lay out and
snuggle on the floor with him pretty often. He has
a super high pack drive, so training with you (not
for you) works super well and keeps him calm and
level. I sometimes reward him for a good training
session by running around in circles with him
and jumping up and down together. His training has
been mostly positive reinforcement. I have him on
the treadmill for small amounts of time on rainy
days. Since he has done so much at only 11 months,
you may want to work him at higher level training.
I took him to a Petsmart puppy class
for socialization and after had a positive
reinforcement basic obedience trainer come to our
home and work with the family on basic obedience
and leash work. His current routine is any
variation of the following: Morning: 1 hour walk
followed by a training session Afternoon: Fetch
and training session Evening: Fetch session and
another walk Habits: Eats after the family 1 3/4
cups- 2 cups of Orijen puppy large twice daily
depending on workload. Once in the morning and
again at 5 or 6pm. Stays in a sit or down while
his food is prepared. Only eats it on the command
“Go get it” responds to “off” while eating. Not
food motivated, works for play rewards. Walks on
the left side. Gets along with most dogs. Stays
off of furniture. Doesn’t beg — the command is
“get out”. Lays in the other room while food is
prepared and eaten. Stays away from people at the
table in general. Is house broken and crate
trained. Toy access is limited to one at a time.
The fire hose toy is only for training--never
given to him to keep. Walks on a lose leash /
correction is “over here” command. Focuses
while walking/running. Focuses after each command.
