Country of Origin: France. Size: 24 - 27.5 inches; 80-110 pounds Coat: The outer coat is straight, coarse and dense. It should be medium-length and lie flat. The undercoat is dense.Colors can be black and tan or harlequin with patches of grey, black, and tan. Character: Beaucerons are calm, intelligent, obedient and faithful. They are working dogs with a strong herding instinct. Temperament: Beaucerons are good with children if they have been brought up around them. They are sociable with other dogs but are very territorial and do not tolerate intruders. Care: Occasional brushing and grooming, particularly during times when it is shedding, is required. Training: The temperament and willingness to work of a Beauceron makes it very easy to train. Its trainer must be firm and authoritative, however. Activity: This breed does not do well in an apartment. It needs plenty of space to run around, and ample opportunities for exercise.
